I'm extremely intrigued by this Samyang, I love my 24mm and 85mm, great optics, great built, but when you start comparing 17mm and 24mm fields of view for interiors I really need the 17mm.įor exteriors, or video, I'd grab this in a heartbeat and save $1,300+. While I reviewed the primary brand for this lens, Samyang lenses are also sold under the Rokinon brand name. The 24mm f/3.5 ED AS UMC Tilt-Shift Lens for Sony Alpha from Samyang is a wide-angle, full-frame lens fitted with perspective control and tilt-shift. Samyang Tilt-Shift 24mm Lens Announced - The Phoblographer Samyang Tilt-Shift 24mm Lens Announced It was hinted on their Facebook awhile ago but now its official, Samyang’s new tilt shift lens is. The Samyang 24mm F3.5 T/S allows you to focus everything in a tilted plane of view. In normal lenses, you can only focus in a plane of view parallel to the camera, where the plane of view in focus is the same distance from your camera everywhere. I'm actually going to order the 17mm today or tomorrow. The Samyang T-S 24mm f/3.5 ED AS UMC is a wide-angle, full-frame lens fitted with perspective control and tilt-shift functions. The Samyang 24mm f/3.5 Tilt-Shift Lens is, by far, the least expensive tilt-shift lens available in Nikon or Canon mounts - and possibly the only tilt-shift lens option for other brand DSLR cameras (Sony, Olympus & Pentax). One of the unique abilities it has is its perspective control. I have been essentially faking it with a low-distorsion 18mm down here in Panama where a quality touch to interiors with resorts and real estate is unusual enough that no one seems to notice my lines converging, but I do, and for 'real' architectural work, I need a tilt shift. The perspective control doesn't work quite the same way as it does in stills when the camera is moving, of course, but it is possible to find a balance that is a lot better looking than a normal wide. It's being used in almost every jib shot to straighten out architectural lines, and there are some overt uses like the miniature effect, as well.
